What to Bring:
Description: This 8 hour course is geared to stress the importance of identifying the location of utility installations, discussing available protective systems (sloping, shoring, shielding) designed for protecting employees from cave-ins and safe means of egress criteria. Students will be encouraged to pool their experiences related to inspection for evidence of possible cave-ins, failure of protective systems, hazardous atmospheres, and other hazardous conditions such as water accumulation, overhead utilities or changes in the weather. Other topics include soil classifications; proper stockpiling and record keeping for grading/excavation equipment will also be covered.
